New Father Zach Fischer Captures Second WSOPC Ring and $233K at Pompano Beach

“Baby rungood is definitely a real thing.”

Zach Fischer said it with a smile—but after his performance at the WSOP Circuit Main Event at Harrah’s Pompano Beach, it’s hard to argue otherwise.

The new dad put together a commanding run to capture his second WSOP Circuit ring and a $233,000 payday, padding both his trophy case and, as he joked, the college fund. Notably, both of Fischer’s Circuit rings have come in Main Events, with his first title earned in Cherokee.

Experience Meets Momentum

Fischer entered Day 3 among the final 18 players sitting comfortably inside the top five chip counts. From there, he turned a strong position into total control.

“I came in with a decent stack, but I just kept winning a lot of hands,” Fischer said after the victory. “I was running really good throughout the entire tournament. I feel like I played really well also—but definitely running really well. The experience I keep getting at these final tables is a huge factor, especially with ICM.”

That experience was evident at a final table packed with seasoned pros and past WSOP hardware winners. Fischer applied steady pressure, chose his spots wisely, and surged into the chip lead midway through the final table. Once in front, he never relinquished control, navigating six-handed play with confidence before closing things out in a decisive stretch of late all-ins.

Powered by “Baby Rungood”

Beyond the chips and cards, Fischer had extra motivation driving him. Having recently welcomed his son Bennett, he embraced the long-standing poker superstition that new fathers run hot at the tables.

“I’m coming home to Bennett. It’s just… it’s really nice.”

As the tournament progressed and the final table tightened, Fischer’s rail grew louder. Friends and family packed the sidelines, offering support that he was quick to credit after securing the win.

“I have a great support system. I’m very, very grateful,” he said. “A lot of family that support me, and obviously my wife, who’s amazing, taking care of the baby at home while I’m out here playing. That’s not easy with a newborn.”

Competition Still Fuels the Fire

For Fischer, the victory was about more than just the money. The competitive spark that once drove him on the sports field now finds its outlet in poker.

“I love trophies. I love rings. I love poker,” he said. “I just love the competition. I played sports my entire life, and poker scratches that same itch.”

With two WSOP Circuit Main Event titles to his name, renewed confidence from another deep run, and a growing family waiting at home, Fischer’s triumph at Pompano Beach stands as a testament to experience, composure—and perhaps a little well-timed baby rungood.
